The property opened as the Doral Country Club in January 1962, and for most of the decades since it has been tied to professional golf: the Doral Open was played here from 1962 to 2006, the WGC-Cadillac Championship from 2007 to 2016, and the PGA TOUR came back to the Blue Monster in 2026 with the Cadillac Championship.
